For Today Is The Lord's Prayer
What an amazing prayer! When I used to be a girl we were taught the religious version of this prayer. Such a shame as nowhere in any compendium (that I can find) does the first interpretation of Jesus Christ's prayer talk of sin. No sin, no trespass. That was made up later to give us a sin-consciousness and never feel that we were deserving enough to approach God in such a confident way.
So not wishing to dwell on the negative let's share our love of the Lord and of his prayer to our heavenly
father
. We aren't asking God to excuse our sin because Jesus has already done that on the cross at Calvary when he laid down his life as the sacrifice for the sin of all humankind. What, are we asking our pop in this prayer? I don't believe we are asking him anything apart from informing him our daily wants. Forget the calloused knees and the begging disposition because that isn't what this prayer is about. Let me share with you what the nearest published interpretation of the Greek words Jesus spoke basically say:
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever amen. Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)
Jesus isn't showing us to ask our heavenly Pa but rather we are to tell him what we need. Just like a little infant will waddle up to their ma or pop and plonk a plastic cup in front of them telling them that they are thirsty. That is how we are to be with our Dad in heaven. We acknowledge he is a spirit and dwells in heaven, we bless his powerful name. We make him aware that we need his will in our lives today the same as in heaven "put simply his best for us. Then we remind our Pop that as his word asserts he's going to look after people who opt to walk in his blessings and agree to his commandments as he pleasures to make provision for his children. Then comes an amazing part which I wish people would honour "pardon us our debt as we excuse our debtors. What does that imply? It is not saying excuse us our sins because as discussed above the price is paid and after we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts we are redeemed out of the hands of the demon and live in the righteousness of Our Lord God thru Jesus ' sacrifice. Jesus himself expounded I Am the Way and the Truth and the Life, nobody comes to the Father but by me.
So , when it comes to putting The Lord's Prayer into a song there's only 1 version that may do. The version I'm talking about is the 1611 King James version which is just what we (Love of Jesus LoJ) have done. My mum always encouraged us kids to tell it like it is and that is what our music does (Psalm 91 for Today and now The Lord's Prayer for Today). I hope with all my heart this song carrying the Lord Jesus ' precious prayer will give us the courage to go boldly before the throne of grace and tell our Father what we need. I'll try to imagine the thrill he gets when we trust in him and let him into our lives to help, and through his word (manifest word "Jesus Christ) through the power of the Lord guide us into all truth today and each day.
The King James bible came about through the ultimate sacrifice from many individuals to get it into the published word and is very special to read. I used to read the New King James bible thinking it was the same aside from the old worlde language, however it is completely different with over 100,000 words removed from the original King James interpretation. It was advised by a very good chum of mine that I read the King James bible and I ignored the proposal for a while then when I eventually got myself a copy and started to read the new testament. It was like going from orange cordial (synthetic and not really healthful) to fresh-squeezed OJ! When I recently re-read The Lord's Prayer it struck me what a wonderful prayer Jesus gave us and what victory and truth it contains. The Lord's Prayer for Today.
Love of Jesus is a couple husband and wife team Tess and Bob Hansel who have been writing scripture based music for over thirty years. You can read about and listen to Love of Jesus (LoJ) by visiting their internet site
