Learn About The Ancient Art Of Feng Shui

Although not everyone actually knows what Feng Shui is, most people have heard of it. Often it is translated in to good fortune, but Feng actually means wind and Shui means water. This art has been practiced for thousands of years, and originated in China. Generally speaking it is considered to be more of a science that an art, some people consider it a way of life. Because of its very nature Feng Shui is also just a hobby for many people.

For the beginner Chinese this art can seem very complicated, and to some extent this is the case. The art is to achieve harmony within a given area or room, this is done by arranging the contents of the room in the correct way. The aim is to create a complete balance of the energies in the space or room.

Some people think that the good that comes from the balancing of energies can only apply to an area of their home, but this harmony can affect our daily lives in areas such as relationships and health. With study and attention to detail comes a greater understanding.

Despite this art originating in China thousands of years ago, it is has become popular and is practiced by people across the globe, especially in the west. Those who are not sure how to create harmony in their own home, there are professional consultants who visit the homes of people seeking their services. During such a visit the consultant or master will teach individuals how and where to place the objects within the building to concentrate the good energies creating complete harmony.

In Chinese philosophy qi is positive energy that has the power to improve good fortune and prosperity. QI is thought to be everywhere and Feng Shui can identify which areas have a high concentration of this energy. The ancient Chinese separated qi in to five elements; these are water, fire, wood, earth and metal.

Time and location determine the concentration of qi, once the area these energies has been established Feng Shui acts as the guide to create harmony. The placing of objects in the correct place, facing the right direction will achieve the sought after harmony.

Once this harmony has been achieved, the occupants of that space will feel empowered and confident, and it is said that they will prosper and be blessed with good health. Those, for whom Feng Shui is a very important part of their lives, do not just apply the science in their homes but also in their place of work.
